1920s, the French Riviera: wealthy expatriate Nicole Warren's mental illness strains her marriage to psychiatrist Dick. A young American actress named Rosemary Hoyt arrives and is drawn into their circle, becoming romantically involved with the older, married Dick and disrupting the fragile balance of the group. The thought of Dick possibly being attracted to another sends Nicole on an emotional downward spiral that threatens to consume them all.

Tradition and modernity, heroes and villains are not opponents, but harmonize in the film. The puppet shows begin with rap and dance, and actual images and animation are intertwined. Fantasy and reality co-exist in this interesting work in which all the great Iranian heroes appear. Ultimately, it is a heart-warming film that shows harmony and love.

The Violinist Kianush is a street musician who plays violin on the streets of Tehran. Living as a street musician because of his lack of education, Kianush hopes to build a new musical life with new people. However, he loses his violin at a bus stop and his hopes are dashed. As cited at the beginning of the film, director Mohammad-Ali Talebi’s Violinist is based on a true story. While the people of Tehran suffer the hardships of life and all kinds of accidents, this film portrays a young man trying to bridge the gap between this harsh reality and his dream. The Iranian music expressed through Kianush’s violin performances throughout the film offer another element to enjoy in the film.
