The Secret of Stamboul

Shots from Outside The camera opens a window to the outside world life for the detainees and students of the Second Chance School in the prison of St. Stefanos in Patra. The voices of the attendees and their on-demand film shots from outside illustrate their hopes, as their dreams gain form, color, and sound, in a sunset, in the sound of the waves, in the open sky. A documentary made during a filmmaking workshop organized by the cultural organization Neaniko Plano, in an attempt to connect the worlds inside and outside.

This full concert broadcast comes from our 2017 award-winning Monteverdi Trilogy tour, when the Monteverdi ensembles and John Eliot Gardiner celebrated the composer’s 450th anniversary with performances of his three surviving operas. Following the preparation of an art exhibition themed around raisins, the documentary introduces the importance of this product for the local community of Aigio and for the whole country alike, its history, and the people who live and work with it.

Otranto Four female voices interweave a polyphonic narration of the tragic story of “Katër i Radës,” the boat that sank in 1997 due to the naval blockade imposed by the Italian government on migration flows from Albania. The relatives of the victims that were amongst the first to die, in their attempt to cross the borders of “Fortress Europe,” sail along the Strait of Otranto following the route of the doomed ship only to pose the questions ignored by the media and the judicial authorities.

Place of Love This is a love story. In a place that is not intended for this at all. The events of the film unfold in the day stay group of people with disabilities. And only the inner beauty and strength of the heroes of the film turn it into a "Place of Love."
