The documentary follows the story of Maria Aparecida and Sueli, women arrested for petty theft, and Sônia Drigo, a lawyer who voluntarily set out to defend them. Maria was arrested for attempting to steal a shampoo and conditioner for R$ 24.00 and lost sight of an eye in jail. Sueli tried to steal a cheese and two packages of crackers, worth R$ 30.00, and spent almost two years in prison.
