Running from the coastal resort town of Sheringham to a station constructed in preservation days close to the market town of Holt, todays North Norfolk Railway is established on just over 5 miles of the former Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway's network. Intermediate stations exist at Kelling Heath, a halt also built during the preservation era and Weybourne, where the locomotive fleet is based with restoration and maintenance also being carried out here. Steam trains are captured in action along the route which, despite the county of Norfolk's mainly "flat land" image, features gradients that make locomotives work for their living. Occasionaly trains are seen with the North Sea as a backdrop, a reminder that the line would once have carried holiday makers for a welcomed break from the industrial heartlands of the north and the midlands.

The Great Central Railway is well known for its unique preserved section of double track main line, which provides scenes that cannot be recreated on any heritage railway in Britain. Several over bridges, three original stations, signal boxes and signaling, working mail exchange equipment and reservoir viaducts, all combine to recreate a past era. Add to this both visiting and resident preserved steam locomotives and a whole host of coaches and rolling stock, which can be used to assemble together many different types of train configuration, and today’s Great Central Railway has without a doubt restored the atmosphere of a railway as it was in the days of steam. This DVD captures sequences of a number of steam locomotives and train formations at work in several locations along the entire length of the 8 mile preserved railway from Loughborough Central to the newly constructed southern terminus station at Leicester North.

Steam locomotives are captured in action as they traverse the 20 mile route between Bishops Lydeard and the coastal resort of Minehead. Stunning scenery provides a back-drop as we witness a large selection of mainly Great Western associated motive-power negotiating taxing gradients as they pass through the stunning landscape in the shadow of the Quantock and Brendon Hills. Intermediate stations include Crowcombe Heathfield, famous for the part it played in the Beatles Hard Days Night movie, Stogumber, Williton, Doniford Halt,Watchet, Washford, Blue Anchor and Dunster, which stands on the coastal plain overlooked by the famous Dunster Castle.
