In this romantic wartime comedy, four female defense plant workers share a house with four male workers. The situation is on the up and up as the men and women work different shifts and they are only making do because there is a housing shortage. Unfortunately, they soon begin to fight about who gets the house during certain hours. Romance ensues.

A Little Bird Reminds Me Xing was born in a theatre, his father was a painter, and mother was an actress. In his childhood, mother was working elsewhere. Xing and his father lived behind the stage. In mid 1990s, the theater was repurposed as a dance hall. His father started a business and mother became a full- time housewife. In middle school, Xing sent love letters to a girl but never got a reply. Meanwhile, his parents’ relationship quietly began to crack with his father leaving. Xing’s friend Guang was a shy teen gangster. He wished to practice handwriting and got rid of hooligan life. But he lost the chance after injuring someone in a fight. Xing’s grandfather passed away at the eve of new millennium. At his funeral, Xing’s father returned, but Xing and father could not find a word to talk. In grandfather’s testament, he encouraged Xing to unremittingly strive to be a better man.

The Ark While the first reports of the Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan are heard on the news, elsewhere in the country Zhang Xiuhua—who is suffering from a different disease—is fighting for her life. The doctors may have given up on her, but her children and grandchildren haven’t, and they’re doing everything possible to keep her with them for a little while longer. We observe the family in restrained black-and-white as they struggle with their mother’s situation, the economic consequences of the pandemic, and each other. Pride and opposing worldviews ultimately put a strain on relationships between the brothers and sisters—but they still don’t budge from their mother’s side. Events within the family remain at the forefront, but the viewer repeatedly picks up on moments from the Covid crisis and the restrictions arising from it. In this way the film subtly interweaves a private crisis with a global emergency, and shows their reciprocal effects on a human life, at both micro and macro level.
