Lens Hand Foot Lens Hand Foot is part of the Light Occupations series, in which Gill Eatherley performs simple investigations of the filmic equipment, particularly the camera and the projector, in short films that are each three minutes in length – corresponding to the length of a 100-foot roll of film. In films like this one, she explores the relationship of her own body to the filmmaking apparatus, playfully attempting to overcome the unbridgeable distance between them.

Tender Kisses The film starts with an extreme close-up of television static. Through a series of carefully controlled processes, the abstract nature of the image (which is concerned with pattern, colour and time), is juxtapositioned with the formal images of domestic room interiors and exteriors. With this work, Leggett questions the legibility of the image, examining the illusion produced by the two great illusionists – television and cinema – and the extent to which these can be manipulated and do manipulate.

The Institution A critique of the institution of mental health care that questions ‘normal’ viewing habits.

La Flor de La Lengua de ... Camila lives her last days in the jungle as a guerrilla of the FARC-EP at the crossroads between an uncertain future of peace and the lingering memory of a childhood severely punished. Sent to a war hospital in the middle of the jungle, Camila begins a journey into her past, to the depths of an old wound that needs to be healed. A journey that ends up leading her to an unexpected reunion with her friend Ricardo, a young guerrilla recently amputated due to a mine.

DOA: Cari Jodoh Otoy and Ali remind Doyok to find a match. Doyok seeks his true love from blind dates. It is thrilling because they get stuck in difficult situations.

Variant “I intend my films to jump out at you from their dark spaces, their gaps, their elisions, to vibrate in your whole being in the very manner and rhythm of felt experience” (John Du Cane) In Variant, objects and spaces (trees, ships in the harbour, a teapot and cups on the table, grassy fields) do appear to jump out at the spectators, moving rapidly towards them. The film’s speed suggests the idea of an impermanent flux, attempting to create a transient, felt experience. Variant “pushes to experiential and formal extremes the deployment of schematic and repetitive structures.” (Federico Windhausen)
