He later worked with Fassbinder on DESPAIR and BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ, and, with psychologist Pea Fröhlich, wrote the scripts for LOLA and the other films in THE BRD TRILOGY. This interview was conducted in 2003.

Barbara Sukowa on Lola Actress Barbara Sukowa began her career in the German theater. In this 2003 interview she discusses her move into film under the direction of Rainer Werner Fassbinder. In 1981, Sukowa starred in Fassbinder’s LOLA, as well as Margarethe von Trotta’s MARIANNE AND JULIANE. She has since worked with Lars von Trier, Michael Cimino, and David Cronenberg.
