Spectral Brands "[This] is my first attempt to construct a video piece using one set of generative intervals for both sound and color. All of the color in the piece is orchestrated in brightness ‘octaves’ corresponding to the registration of the pitches in the soundtrack. Each hue from a circle of twelve corresponds to one of the pitches of a tempered scale. The articulation of the piece consists of a series of loudness and brightness ripples which move across the piece in speed relationships derived from the hue and pitch proportions. The image content, or the ‘instruments’ through which the colors resonate, are an alphabetical set of identifying symbols for 32 of the largest corporations in the world." - Bob Snyder

Of The Excellency of Whe... Robert Fludd was a distinguished English alchemical philosopher, light metaphysician and Kabbalist. In the 1620s he published a tract on wheat, the “Tractatus de Tritico”, in which he described a series of experiments in which he extracted the luminous quintessence, or celestial fire, from wheat. His words are spoken in both old Hebrew and English.

A Reserve Bride Lee Kei-hau is happily married with a son. His wife Wong Tai-chu, who has been complaining of discomfort lately, goes to see a doctor where her friend Wong Mau works as an assistant. Wong mixes up her report with that of a cancer patient. Believing her days are numbered, Tai-chu discusses with her mother to choose a second wife for Lee and finds the nurse So Lin-yung, Mau's girlfriend. Mau feels obligated to adhere to her request to hire So as family nurse. Lee urges his wife to make regular exercise a habit to improve her health but when his advice falls on deaf ears, he spurs her to action by dating the nurse. Infuriated by his wife's unexpected exhilaration, Lee accuses her of having an affair with Mau. Tai-chu retaliates by displaying great affection towards a man, her girlfriend Judy in disguise. Lee chases after the beau relentlessly and is told the truth by Judy. Mau's blunder is patched up with a smile, for his lover So, and for the reconciled couple Tai-chu and Lee.

Jealousy and Madness Behind the elderly husband's back, the lovers kiss and go off together. But is he unaware of their actions. No! So she swears that her husband is mad and as I'mm locked away in a padded cell. That, however, will not end the matter.

Passage A study in the visceral: labour, the weight of the body, how we might traverse space, and perhaps life itself, together and apart, participating, denying, folding, collapsing, surrendering, spinning, falling... holding, carrying, burden and release, kindness and dissolution. A journey of sorts, in which the camera remains fully involved. It was also a dream. With performance actions by Ezra Allen and Lily Ashrowan, filmed in the Scottish Borders.

Grandeur et dcadence d'u... A lady and her husband leave their home and go to a fashionable millinery, where the lady buys a beautiful hat. From there they go to a restaurant and seat themselves for a meal. The waiter, in serving the soup, stumbles, with the result that he spills the contents of the tureen on the lady's new hat. She is mortified and enraged, and her husband immediately halls a cab and takes her home, where on reaching her room she throws the hat to the ground and falls to weeping. A servant enters, and seeing the mined headgear on the ground, adopts it as her own. She fixes it up to suit her taste and is next seen wearing it as she meets her lover, the policeman. Together they go to a park and seat themselves on a bench, the servant placing her hat beside her. While the couple are busy, a very stout gentleman comes along, seats himself on the hat and proceeds to read his newspaper.

23 Skidoo, 7 Songs "The 7 songs video was Made between 1981-1982 . Edited at The London collage of printing and St Martins school of art. Shot on 8mm and vhs and u matic tape and found footage. The colourisation was created using a wonderful hand made early colour synth that was installed into the edit suite at the L.C.P at the time. I started doing live projectons for 23 skidoos performances having already known Johnny and Alex Turnbul from being in the same skateboard team and hanging out at skate cty skateboard park with them. They released 7 songs and wanted to make pictures to go with the tracks. We were rehearsing In Throbbing Gristles recording studio in london fields in Hackney at the time and i filmed them there for the small bit of live footage of them in the video. I released the VHS of this with Doublevsion a coumpany from Shefield . It was a cut and paste piece of work, i was learning to edit as i went along and was a very ntuitive process." - Richard Heslop

The Shoga (Glass and Gas... "I have not been very active as a social filmmaker anymore after the revolution, though I had great plans and projects at the start of the revolution! So far I have made many so-called commissioned industrial films for national oil, gas, and steel companies as well as for government ministries, in which I tried to bring the films as close as possible to my taste and to my way of thinking and make the films' sponsors to see the world from content and formal viewpoints. Some of these films encountered serious censorship problems and part of them were cut for their public screenings, such as Gas, Fire, Wind and The Genaveh Project, both of which were filmed during the Iran-Iraq war." - Kamran Shirdel
