Trust Falls
In the video Trust Falls, the subject stares outward, becoming another viewer. This viewer leans back, falling into a cinematic void and trusting that outside, there is another viewer waiting to catch their image.
Relations
The “spinning newspaper” trope is a clichéd cinematic device that is used both to introduce major events and show the passage of time in a film. In this piece, an illegible newspaper spins continuously towards the viewer, never arriving but guaranteeing the presence of a steady stream of information. Rather than deliver news, the endlessly spinning paper offers only the promise of constant change, both in the form of news and in the form of its delivery.
Celebration of Lights
And oldie from the vaults! Shot on Super8, transferred to video, then rephotographed on 16mm. Or, in the words of John Columbus from Black Maria (where this piece won a Jury Choice award), "An impressionistic chronicle of a winter festival where lighting displays are the chief attraction. Experimental photography amplifies the scene into a sensuous painterly work."
On the Jump
In this propaganda film, athletic silent star George Walsh plays reporter Jack Bartlett, who interviews President Wilson regarding the Fourth Liberty Loan. The story never appears in the paper, however, because its new owner, Otto Crumley, is pro-German. So Jack quits his job and begins canvassing for the Liberty Loans. In the midst of his vigorous campaigning he also halts Crumley's plans to inspire a strike at a munitions plant.
Time Fu Eat
A uniquely Belizean dark comedy exploring how various people's lives are impacted by socioeconomic pressures and political corruption, casting a light on the way contemporary Belizeans hustle for money, fame, and the next plate ah dinna'.
Salaryman
Tokyo work culture's most compelling and complex protagonist; the Salaryman. A nameless, voiceless, over-worked and under-valued cog in the labour pool, expected to compromise home and social lives. Late nights and intense drinking sessions leave many of them passed out in the city streets. This slick, incisive documentary raises questions around the ethics of our global working practices in a capitalist society.
Les otages du bus 53
Thirty years after the event, the survivors of the Gladbeck hostage crisis talk about how they rebuilt their lives after this traumatic episode.
Au Fer Rouge
Through the records of emblematic figures of Stade Rennais Football Club and archive footages, this film will immerse yourself into the club history.
Tony Martone
Tony "Untouchable" Martone leads the mafia in East Providence, RI until a rival family attempts to take control of their territory.
