We’ll Find You When the... The film is inspired by the terella—a small magnetized model ball representing the Earth, used by scientists since the late sixteenth century. Three centuries later, in the year of the birth of cinema, Norwegian physicist Kristian Birkeland used the terella to study the aurora borealis, while in the 1930s, Bertolt Brecht wrote in exile: “In the dark times / Will there also be singing? Yes, there will also be singing / About the dark times.” Resembling a terella, the dark planet depicted on the screen is surrounded by pulsating light, invoking both hope and despair.

Carbosyn Carbosyn is a speculative film that envisions a post-work world placed inside of an air-scarcity future. As the temperature reaches the level of 2,3 degrees the planet struggles to breath, forcing the humanity to radically restructure the world. A transition to a post-carbon mode of production comes along with deploying automated systems while dismantling the old power structures. The Great Terraforming project of planetary decarbonization unfolds as the only way to keep the Earth a liveable place.

8mm Portrait Series Filmed with the Bolex Rx8 camera which was the exact same size as a 16mm Bolex but holding 4 times the amount of film time-wise. These rolls were spontaneously edited with my in-camera style and have emerged as portraits, mostly of artist friends, including the painter and colleague Lynn Shelton at work in his San Francisco home studio. There is also a black & white “portrait” of my old Los Angeles neighborhood and a glimpse of my current locale in Sonoma County California. The painter's eye and a musician's lyricism is at the root of these cinematic explorations. - Myron Ort

Songs for Dying Korakrit Arunanondchai’s new piece, Songs for Dying, composed of tropes and ideas from his “living archive,” combines the personal experience of accepting death and the perception of history with religious, technological, and political narratives. Footage of his grandfather’s funeral is followed by archival records of the popular uprising on South Korean Jeju Island, current student protests in Thailand, and references to pop culture. Using the metaphor of the ghost, central to this piece, the artist questions the linear perception of time and seeks to show how the past pulsates in the present. In his worldview, nature, people, and spirits are intertwined into a homogenous whole, forming a living and diverse reality.
