From the hyper-active intro by The Mae Shi, through the heavy moods of Gowns, the precise thrash of HEALTH, to the dark techno dystopia of Captain Ahab, Live At The Smell presents a showcase of the excellent music that the community-oriented venue presents on any given day of the week, without booking agents, backroom deals, bouncers, velvet ropes, ID checks, schmoozing, or hype. All footage was shot from Sept-Oct 2008.

Biola A student (Arfandi) is very depressed, for being known as a bastard child or “anak haram”, the original title of Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s story, on which the film is based on. Only one of the teachers (Frans Harahap) is understanding and willing to help.

Memory of the Cactus A 42 minute documentary film that combines the cactus and the memories it stands for. The film addresses the story of the destruction of the Palestinian villages of Latroun in the Occupied West Bank and the forcible transfer of their civilian population in 1967. Over 40 years later, the Israeli occupation continues, and villagers remain displaced. The film follows two separate but parallel journeys. Aisha Um Najeh takes us down the painful road that Palestinians have been forcefully pushed down, separating them in time and place from the land they nurtured; while Israelis walk freely through that land, enjoying its fruits. The stems of the cactus, however, take a few of them to discover the reality of the crime committed.

All bodies were found in open areas, within the same 10-kilometer radius, after they were raped, beaten and strangled to death with a bra or another clothing item affixed to their necks. The striking similarities between the murders raise a serious concern that they were all committed by one sadistic killer, who managed to outwit the law and evade justice. Titled “Shadow of Truth: Coastal Road Killer,” the second season of the award-winning Documentary-Crime series goes back in time, in an attempt to solve one of Israel’s most enigmatic mysteries, tracing the most vicious serial killer in the history of the country.
