Nanou's first true love story comes to an abrupt end. Rajwa treads carefully into a monogamous relationship. From 2008 to 2013, I accompanied them through their stories of passion and anguish, carrying with them their determination to arrive at the heart of things: to enter the hidden crevices of love, to uncover truth, all for the ever-elusive goal of understanding the essence of their own complex personalities. I entered their world to find answers to my own questions, to use their lives as my lens into discovering new forms of love. I stand at the intersection of friendship, love and seduction, unable to express the extent of my fascination for these women.

All Together Now As memories, our favorite concerts are not recollected as linear events, but as fragmented pieces of a collective experience. In hopes of touching the warmth of these moments, we keep them nearby like cherished novels in the bookshelves of our minds. All Together Now is the concert doc reimagined. Akin to our mind’s eye, the film approaches documentation with an abandon for linear history. We don’t witness an evening from the past so much as feel its gravity. Beautiful and abstracted concert footage from Dan Mangan’s 2019 homecoming show at Vancouver’s historic Vogue Theatre is artfully woven within the narrative, philosophy and context of what it means to be in concert with people.
Rogue
Rogue Coal miner Isamu Oba is forced to quit his village and leave his mother and siblings behind. Mining buddy Ichiro accompanies him to Tokyo, and the pair enjoy several "fish-out-of-water" sequences before finding employment at a boxing gym with trainer Sawada and his spunky sister Tomoko. The boys also find part time night jobs as roving minstrels in the club district courtesy of benevolent gang boss Asakawa. Of course, they run afoul of boss Karasawa's cruel gang. Karasawa also has it in for Asakawa, and this indirectly throws a spanner into the works as far as Isamu's burgeoning success as a kickboxer. When Asakawa's HQ is burned to the ground by Karasawa's men, Asakawa tries to kill Karasawa - which, of course, leads to his own gruesome death. Isamu goes on the rampage with his sword, wiping out Karasawa and men.
