Out of Frame A minimalist cinematic style is used in this film to tell the story of a young man who reacquaints himself with an old girlfriend after a chance meeting. He talks to a film director who wishes to make a feature about political change but is uninspired about the lack of real change in everyday life. The woman goes on a boat with an old friend before making love to her former boyfriend. The two rekindle their passions as the passage of time has them viewing each other in a more favorable light.

Christs in the Thousands When a museum depicting the violence man inflicts on himself opens, a doctor, a woman and a museum official go through the building before the grand opening. Discussing the subject matter, their attention quickly turns to the May Day riots that plagued Paris. This symbolic film tries to portray all victims of violence as Christlike figures. Stock footage of war and suffering are used to underscore the effectiveness of the subject matter in this uneven feature.

The Past That Lives This film documents the life of the late Jewish historian and author Jacques Presser, author of Ashes in the Wind: The Destruction of Dutch Jewry.

Bloody Nitrate Chilean soldiers try to survive in the desert after they are attacked by Peruvian troops. The 17 survivors are held together by the Captain. The Lieutenant is a civilian attorney who clashes with the Captain as he pursues the valuable rights to nitrate deposits in the area. When the fighting was over, 25,000 soldiers from Chile, Peru and Bolivia had perished while trying to secure the coveted mineral rights for foreign companies.

Arthur Penn, 1922-: Them... This documentary premiered at the 1970 Cannes Film Festival and combines black and white with color photography. Director Arthur Penn is the subject of the film. He is shown being interviewed along with his two children, 12 year old Mathew and 8 year old Molly. Scenes are shown from The Left Handed Gun, The Chase, The Miracle Worker, Bonny and Clyde, Alice's Restaurant and Little Big Man. Penn recalls how Warner Brothers insisted he change the ending for The Left Handed Gun and talks about the violence in Bonny and Clyde. His work from 1958 to 1970 received three Academy Award nominations. The director attended the world premiere of this film at Cannes and was pleased with the final effort.
