Hervé runs the Librairie Aléatoire in Amiens. In 2020, despite the pandemic, he made a liberating decision: “stop Amazon”. From the depths of his cellar full of books, which he came to prepare at night to sell them on the internet, he definitely emerged to find his shop and his regulars. Today, guided by the literature that shapes his thoughts, the bookseller dreams of a bookstore in the shape of a boat. It will float between the worlds.

The Call For Freedom The film draws on the tribulations following the Japanese Occupation and the subsequent stirrings of nationalism that arose. It marked the first time that both Chinese and Malay were portrayed on equal footing in a local production, with dialogue in both languages to depict how racial unity ensured the success of guerilla warfare in that era. Dong in Dong in (2022) records the architecture of one of the earliest modernist apartment blocks in the South Korean city of Daegu ahead of its scheduled demolition. Through an involved process of painstakingly captured timelapse from which he produced flythroughs, Suh communicates the textures and materiality of the building. Using complex rigging systems, the camera moves from the exterior of the Dong in building to its interior—and back out again—toying with the demarcation between these spaces and suggesting the porosity of the building.
